How to Slow Down to Speed Up

My Dad used to say, don't put off until tomorrow what you can do today. It’s good advice for a procrastinator! But here’s the thing, sometimes you’ve got to slow down to speed up.

There is tomorrow, the day after, and some things can wait until next month.

As a small business or solopreneur I understand that feeling of running out of time better than most.

If you have a plan in place then it's much easier to identify what is important and has to happen today and what can wait. 

Here are a few ideas that I use to plan... I hope they help you:

🟠 Put a business plan in place. 

It will help you to decide where you place your effort.

You can do this over time, writing goals down will help you think about things that you wouldn't otherwise.

🟢 Consider your time management. The Eisenhower Matrix is a great way of doing this.

With a piece of paper divide a sheet into four quadrants with these headings:

🔺️Urgent and important

🔺️Important, but not urgent

🔺️Urgent, but not important

🔺️Neither urgent nor important

➡️You might see that you spend a lot of time stopping an urgent and important task to read emails you don't have to respond to immediately. 

➡️You could set up an autoresponder to acknowledge your client's email and let them know when you will get back to them, e.g. within 24 hours or 48 hours.

🔴 To help organise my content I use Trello.

But there are many online tools out there.

Which means you won't lose that piece of paper...

➡️ Build a list of future customers that you can reach out to when you are ready to sell a course that will help them!
